The Majestic Tiger: Lifestyle

 The Majestic Tiger:  Lifestyle

The wild world’s most iconic and formidable predators are tigers. These big cats are famous for their powerful look and accents in hunting. In this article we will look at such things as lifestyle, physical characteristics, hunting behavior, and life cycle of tigers.

### Lifestyle

Unlike their social cousins, the lions, tigers are solitary animals. There's one territory per tiger, and females may claim 10 to 30 square miles, and males can have more like 100 square miles. Scent marking, vocalizations, and signals that can be seen, tell the tigers to others.

Tigers live in forests, grasslands and mangrove ranges. Throughout Asia sub species of the Bengal, Siberian and Sumatran tigers live in different places on the continent.

### Speed

Tigers are made for power and speed in bursts. When chasing prey they can run up to 40 miles per hour (65 kilometers per hour). But like lions they can't hold their speed for long as their muscular build and energy demands require.

### A History of Height, Weight, and Length measurement

- **Height**: The adult male stands 3 to 3.5 feet (0.9 to 1.1 meters) tall at the shoulder.

- **Weight**: Male raised from 220 to 660 pounds (100 to 300 kilograms), and female weighs between 165 and 370 pounds (75 to 170 kilograms).

- **Length**: Tigers range from 8 to 12 feet, with 3 feet (1 meter) of the length being their tail.

 Hunting

Because they are apex predators, of course, tigers have to use stealth and their 800 plus lb bodies to catch their prey. What they hunt is a great many animals, deer, wild boar and water buffalo for instance. Additionally, if large prey is out of reach of the Tigers smaller animals such as monkeys and birds are preyed upon by Tigers.

Tigers are of course nocturnal predators, depending on good sight and hearing to hunt their prey. Their striped camouflage does the job: They prefer ambush tactics. If within close enough, they pounce with great power and bit the neck or throat of their prey into fatality.

Birth and Life Cycle

- **Birth**: After a 100 to 110 days gestation, when female tigers give birth to litters of 2 to 4 cubs. They are born blind and totally reliant on their mother for food and protection.

- **Cubs**: Young tigers their age stay with their mother for up to two years to learn spear fish hunting and survival skills. They are extremely vulnerable at this time, prey for others.

- **Adulthood**: When they separate from their mother, the tigers go off and form their own territories. In fact, males preferred to roam about further in search of new ranges and females typically prefer to establish their own territories near their mother’s.

- In the wild, tigers live on average for 10 to 15 years. In captivity they can live up to 20 years because of better care, there is no threat like a lack of food or lack of safety.

 Conservation Status

Less than 4,000 tigers remain in the wild, and they are critically endangered. The main threats to their survival are habitat destruction, poaching and human wildlife conflict. Worldwide conservation efforts are ready to be made to secure their habitats and protect them from extinction.

Conclusion

Tigers are remarkable creatures, embodying strength, stealth, and beauty. Understanding their lifestyle and ecological importance highlights the urgent need for conservation to preserve these majestic animals and their natural habitats for future generations.
